Winner of Best Student Paper Award, CSCL 2013

Some of our iTalk2Learn partners have written an award-winning paper! Katharina Loibl and Nikol Rummel (RUB) co-authored the paper that won the Best Student Paper award at the International Conference on Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL 2013). The paper, entitled “Delaying Instruction Alone Doesn’t Work: Comparing and Contrasting Student Solutions is Necessary for Learning from Problem-Solving prior to Instruction”, demonstrates that learning is promoted when structured instruction is preceded with exploratory learning tasks.

We look forward to taking their results into account in the design of the iTalk2Learn invention model, which will be based upon a combination of structured and exploratory learning tasks.
